Phase A (2009-2011): Intra-university network of the University of Patras

The Intra-University Network Higher Education Policies (HEP) was established within the framework of the University of Patras’ policy to create, strengthen and promote intra-university cooperation.

Indeed, in spring 2009, the University of Patras published a call for proposals for the establishment of Networks. Four (4) faculty members of the Departments of TEAPI (Associate Professor Pantelis Kyprianos, Assistant Professor Stathis Balias) and PTE (Assistant Professor Yannis Kamarianos, Professor George Stamelos) responded to this call and submitted a proposal. Through the selection process, the establishment of the HepNet, the only network of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, was approved. The approval was accompanied by financial support for the activation of the Network for the next two years (2009-2011).

In spring 2011, an internal evaluation of the Network’s activities (evaluation document)was requested from the Research Committee of the University of Patras. At the same time, a presentation of the Network was requested at a special workshop on Intra-University Networks organised by the University of Patras (presentation). As a continuation of the above and based on the wish of the members of the HepNet, it was decided to make an effort to transform the Network from Intra-University to Inter-University.

Phase B (2011 – …): Inter-university network of the Universities of Patras, Peloponnese and Aegean.

In the spring of 2011, the effort to transform the Network into an Inter-University Network started. The invitation was responded positively by the Laboratory of Social and Educational Policy Studies of the University of Peloponnese (responsible Professor Dionysis Kladis) and the Historical Archive of the University of the Aegean (responsible Associate Professor Panagiotis Kimourtzis). Following the agreement and signature of the rectorial authorities of the three institutions, the Intra-University Network on Higher Education Policies was transformed into an Inter-University Network in autumn 2011.

Professor Georgios (George) Stamelos is coordinator for the Network.
