α. Seminar on scientific reflection and analysis

This seminar is addressed to budding researchers, young researchers and experienced researchers. It is of a varied nature and aims to promote and develop scientific discourse, debate and discussion and to promote and disseminate new scientific knowledge more generally.

Coordinator: Angelos Kavassakalis, Assistant Professor, University of Patras.

b. Hot Potatoes Seminar.

This seminar aims at providing informed discourse and generating thought on sensitive issues that concern the university community and are usually not discussed either because they are considered taboo or because they cause tensions. Its vision is to contrast journalistic discourse and partisan clichés with informed discourse and to create opportunities for scholarly debate. Its mission is to document the need for the formulation of positions, contrasts and syntheses by clearly documenting the different mission of scientific discourse from the dominant communication discourse of the media and political parties.

Coordinator: George Stamelos, Professor, University of Patras.

c. The top shelf of the library

The seminar focuses on book production in the fields of History of Universities and Policies for Higher Education. New, noteworthy books, as well as older books that have influenced the fields, are presented in an unusual way: authors talk about their book, take questions from prepared readers, and answer questions from the audience. Ultimately, audience members will leave the seminar having put the book on the top shelf of their mind’s library (at least!).

Coordinator: Panagiotis Kimourtzis, professor, University of the Aegean.
