Phase A’ (2009-2011): Intra-university Higher Education Policy (HEP) Network, University of Patras

The intra-university network Higher Education Policy (HEP) was established under the policies of the University of Patras for the creation, strengthening and promoting interuniversity cooperation (http://research.upatras.gr/index/page/3/2).

More concretly in the spring of 2009, the University of Patras launched a call for proposals for academic networking. Four (4) faculty members responded to that from the Departments of Early Childhood Education (Associate Professor Pantelis Kyprianos and Assistant Professor Stathis Balias) and Primary Education (Assistant Professor Ioannis Kamarianios and Professor George Stamelos) and submitted a proposal.  HEP was the only network from the Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty approved by the University. The approval was accompanied by a financial support to operate the network over the next two years (2009-2011).

In spring 2011, an internal evaluation was requested by the Research Committee of the University of Patras. At the same time, the Research Committee demanded the HEP to participate to a special workshop for intra-university Networks organized by the University of Patras with a presentation.  After this, the members of HEP Network have decided to transform the intra-university network into a inter-university network.

Between 2009-2011, George Stamelos was the coordinator of HEP network. His mandate was renewed for the period 2011-2013.

Phase B’ (2011 - …): Inter-university Higher Education Policy Network, University of Patras, University of Peloponnese, University of Aegean

In spring 2011 the effort to transform the existing Network began. Two university structures (the Laboratory for Social and Educational Policy Studies of the University of Peloponnese and the Historical Archives of the University of Aegean) have demonstrated their interest to participate. During summer 2011, the three Universities have signed a Convention of Cooperation.  From the academic year 2011-2012 the new Interuniversity Network is starting to function.

Professor Dionisis Kladis is the person in charge for the University of Peloponnese and Assistant Professor Panagiotis Kimourtzis is the person in charge .for the University of the Aegean.
